Longtime Madera physician H. William Hawkins, D.O. has decided to retire from his medical practice at Madera
Medical Associates, 1050 East Almond Ave. Taking the helm of the practice will be a valley native, Timothy K.
Atmajian, M.D.
Atmajian, also known as "Dr. Tim" or "Doc A," completed his undergraduate degree in psychology and chemistry at
California State University, Fresno, and medical school training at University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
He completed his internship in basic medicine at the Naval Medical Center Oakland and his residency in
ophthalmology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa. He also spent time at USC in a cornea fellowship
program.
Atmajian says he is excited about the potential that he sees in joining this established practice in Madera and may
add a Saturday half-day clinic if there is sufficient response from the community. His background in ophthalmology
opens up a new area of medicine for the Madera clinic. He hopes to eventually offer diabetic eye exams and
evaluations of the cornea.
Atmajian is a Selected Reserves Commander at the Naval Air Station Lemoore where he serves as Flight Surgeon
for his squadron. He said he is especially excited about his promotion to Senior Aviation Medical Examiner with the
FAA and "can't wait to begin the full spectrum of aviation exams in the office."
